An eligible veteran or servicemember may receive a VA grant of not more than 50 percent of the cost of a specially adapted house, up to the aggregate maximum amount allowable by law. The current maximum grant amount allowable for FY2010 is $63,780 and the Paraplegic Housing (PH) grant from $12,000 to $12,756. These amounts are adjusted annually based on a cost-of-construction index. The first adjustment occured on October 1, 2009, and will continue each October 1 thereafter. Any future adjustments will increase the grant amounts or leave them unchanged.
