How Much Sodium is in Salt?
The substance known as salt is in nearly every kitchen and on most dinner tables, but is also known as a chemical named sodium chloride, abbreviated scientifically as NaCL, referring to the basic elements of sodium and chlorine combined to form salt. Thus, whenever you hear or read about discussions involving how much sodium is in a certain food or how much one should consume in a day, they are almost certainly referring to dietary or table salt, and the terms sodium and salt are used interchangeably.
