How much should i tip at a fine dining restaurant?
I’ve worked for a fine dining place that also participated in restaurant week… once. I recommend tipping more than the standard 20%. The servers are actually losing money because of that deal. Their regulars are being pushed out by the folks who partake in this horrid event. They would normally get tipped on a higher amount. Restaurant week participants tip much less and sit longer, resulting in taking home less money but having to tip out and made to run around more. You’re actually getting less than your money’s worth when you do this special. Restaurants cut down on the portion sizes to accomodate the huge loss their gonna take. Sadly, only about 15% of Restaurant week participants come back during a “non-restaurant week” time and get the good stuff.
