How much should I charge for web design?
Its best to get an idea about what they’re prepared to pay, and pitch a proposal that matches their budget. Its not that you are going to over charge them, its that you will match your expectations and effort to suit their budget. You match the scale of the project to suit your client’s needs and budget. Your pricing has to be reasonable to the type of market that your client is in. I’m not sure about formulas but recently my dad needed someone to re do his work’s website. A friend of mine recommended someone who also just graduated in a computer based course. He’s building up his profile with this sort of work. He worked it out to be around the £600 pound mark, based on how many days and the features. My dad said this was cheaper than the big companies and he’s really glad that he has this web designed (also because he’s really good). Anyway, my point is if it’s your first and you’re building up a portfolio then it’s maybe good to aim low this time, the money you make the next time round could be based on the good job you did for the contractor. So think of it as an investment rather than your first money maker. Maybe add up per hour spent working on it?
