Hi, As an editor, you can set rates for editing, but , in my opion, not for fiction. Usually, it’s the market that decides the rate for short stories. There are websites that pay 2 cents a word for fiction, then again, top-end mags pay 2000 dollars for a story… and there are hundreds of magazines, ezines and newspapers that pay anywhere from 10$ to 500$ for a 2000-word short story. But if you are looking to sell your stories to a packager (or outsourcing company), then you can charge around 50$ per story. Really, it’s your call. If you think you can live with the fact that you are selling your story for 10/50/100 dollars, then go for it. The links below might give you an idea about selling short stories.
