How much schooling does it take to become a video game designer?
If you want to be the guy who writes the code to do all that cool stuff, then a fair amount of schooling is required. You’ll probably need a software engineering or computer science degree of some kind. There are very few self-taught software coders out there today. But there are other aspects of video-game design that don’t require CS or engineering degrees. Graphic artists, for example, are employed to prepare the story boards and other artwork.
