How much rubbish does Wales recycle?
In 2002-03 the average percentage of household waste that was recycled or composted by Welsh Councils as a whole was just 12.6 per cent, this rose to 17.6 per cent in 2003-2004. Despite this increase, Wales still faces a significant challenge in reaching the national recycling target of 40% by 2010. It is important that we all support our Council waste teams and recycle as much as we can. Recent figures show that the rates for municipal waste in Wales being recycled or composted has risen from 23 per cent in 2005-06 to 27.6 per cent in 2006-07.
