In short, you need the assessment of a local house pro in your area to see what you are getting into, specifically to see what can be done with the electrical system of the house you intend to buy. So, with that said, and given the electrical-rewiring project you intend to have done, I’d seek the advice of local electrical contractors–they have the local knowledge that you need, as to what you can do with the house, the local electrical products available, the local rate and costs, etc. While you still have not bought your house, I think it is perfectly reasonable and okay to meet with a local electrical contractor out in front of the house to allow the contractor the benefit of seeing the house you intend to buy first hand.
