RAM (short for random access memory) is internal memory used by a computer to run applications. The more RAM you have in a laptop computer the more stable applications will run. You will also be able to run a number of applications at the same time without experiencing any kind of slowdown. Deciding how much RAM you should have on a laptop computer depends on exactly what purpose you will be using your laptop for. Certain applications only require a little bit of RAM, while others need a lot more. Internet Browsing If you only plan to use your laptop to browse the internet, check emails and maybe write a Word document or two, you don’t need a lot of RAM. Even an older laptop with a slow (compared to today’s standards) processor running with 500 megabytes of RAM will be more than enough to browse the Internet.
