How much public money is Austria investing in EURO 08?
The total costs for the Austrian federal government amount to about € 133 million (approx. CHF 215m). This sum includes the costs of work on the stadia, transport and the ‘combi-ticket’, signage – traffic routing systems, tourist advertising, sustainability, cultural and art projects and the costs of preparing the events within Austria. The bulk of the money will be spent on financing the new construction (in Klagenfurt) and on alterations to the stadia. The total costs (excl. reconversion costs of about € 3m) for the federal, länder, and city governments for alterations to the four stadia in the context of EURO 08 amount to approximately € 135 million.
