Your job as a teacher is to TEACH. What you are paid is determined by the district and the state you teach in. Want big bucks…go to Alaska. That aside, your duties as a teacher are to be sure that the students are safe from harm, they have a good environment for learning and they know that you are fair. So you will teach not only your subject area, but how your students can become human beings too. You will also be required to do bus duty, cafeteria duty, hall duty, etc. along with other teachers. You will be required to keep up your professional status with inservices and professional development classes. You are responsible for the condition of your room, the ordering of your supplies and textbooks. As for lesson plans….YOU will be responsible for writing your own lesson plans. And where do you get the information from – the curriculum. It has in a very broad sense, everything that your students need to know and for you to teach. How you teach them is where your experience comes
