The proposed Headwaters Preserve contains the Headwaters Grove and the Elkhead Springs Grove, which contain 3,117 acres of old-growth redwood, 665 acres of residual old-growth redwood, and 3,693 acres of second-growth redwood. The proposed Headwaters Preserve is 7,475 acres in size. Additional old-growth will be protected under the HCP as described below.
