None of the State was covered by glacial ice during any of the ice advances in the Wisconsinan stage, the so-called “Ice Age.” However, West Virginia’s climate at the time and a portion of the surface were affected by the presence of glaciers to the north and northwest in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
