How much of our communication is non verbal?
While I don’t have an exact number I do know that the percentage of nonverbal communication in Human Beings is rather high. The CIA and NSA have a program that teaches an operative to read the minute facial twitches that we make subconsciously. Using this method, it is possible to determine a great amount of information about a person in a relatively short time. More commonly known nonverbal cues include such things as perfume or cologne, articles of clothing, makeup, jewelry, facial expression, somatic gestures, exhalations, stance, posture, eye movement, eye contact, and many more things. As one example, if in a conversation with a person and they lie, they will, the majority of the time, look up and to the right. This is because they are using the creative portion of their brain to formulate the lie. If they are attempting to remember, they will look down and to the left. This is because they are accessing stored information. Hope it helps.
