How much of a threat do you think Halloween candy is to children?

I think the fear over Halloween candy is entirely driven by the media. Some reporter grabs onto an isolated case and it blows up into an urban myth. I remember when it all started (it wasn’t even thought of when I was a child) and I thought the hysteria was crazy then and the fact that it has continued is just absurd. This kind of media driven hysteria has happened over and over again. It’s a real problem in our society. As in any life situation, just use your common sense. If the candy looks messed up, don’t eat it. If the nice old lady made popcorn balls but they smell funny then don’t eat them. If you’re neighbor you’ve known for years gives you a piece of her famous fudge, then eat it immediately!
