How much of a role did Edith Wilson play in the presidency following Woodrow Wilsons massive stroke?
A. While Edith took over running of the day-to-day activities in the White House, it is hard to say just how much involvement she actually had when it came to national affairs. She did not make political appointments, propose legislation, or deal with Congress. Edith was, however, influential in that she protected the President from the press corps, his political opponents, and aided him in decisions.
