How much of a deterrent does a steering wheel lock provide against joyriders?
It’s certainly a deterrent, especially on an older car with worn locks and no immobiliser, but if a thief wants your car. he’ll get it somehow. At least in a case like this he’ll nick your car when no-one’s about rather than stick a knife to your throat for the keys, which happens a lot with really secure cars nowadays. It’s the only way a scumbag can get the car going. Given the choice I’d far rather see an empty space where my car was than be killed for the sake of a well insured ton and a half of metal!
