Published by typroducts (Visit my Store Picture Frame Supply Store) To determine the amount of moulding needed in feet to frame your picture, all you need is 3 numbers in inches: • The width of the moulding you are using (in example below 1 inch) • The height height of the inside of the frame (in example below 11inches) • The width of the inside of the frame (in example below 14inches) The formula is: total footage needed = [(width of moulding x 8) + (height of frame x 2) + (width of frame x 2)] / 12 So in the example below you need: [(1in x 8) + (11in x 2) + (14 x 2)] / 12= 58inches /12 = 4.83ft (4ft 10 inches) Please note the height and the width should be the inside measurement of your frame. • In the example above it would be 11in high and 14 inches wide So for example if you plan on framing a 20x30inch poster, the width and height would be 20x30inches.
