” Humanly speaking, it would seem that national Israelites would be more appropriate candidates to be part of the New Testament church. After all, they have an earthly history of blessings from God (Rom. 9:4,5). However, all of those earthly advantage gave them no spiritual advantage. Nevertheless, in answer to the potential prideful boast of the gentiles, God insists in this verse that the gentiles realize they have no reason to boast either. During their history, the gentiles had none of the amazing physical care and blessings which God gave to the Israelites, so they could not boast above the Israelites in anything physical or spiritual. But more importantly, any gentiles who were saved should realize that they receive the most important blessing of all totally by grace alone and have no reason to boast. In fact, they would not want to boast, if they truly were born again. The idea of natural branches verses wild branches does not imply that the Jews are somehow more natural candida
