How much more electricity does Santee Cooper anticipate generating using non-greenhouse gas emitting sources of energy?

0

A. Santee Cooper has announced a bold new goal: to generate 40% of our total electricity output using renewable and non-greenhouse gas emitting resources, biomass fuels, energy efficiency and conservation by 2020. That is four times our 2007 levels. While it is too early to tell the precise percentages of our energy mix each specific resource such as solar or landfill gas will provide, we are on our way toward reaching this goal. Results from the wind pilot programs currently underway will help us determine more opportunities for this resource; we will be adding additional conservation programs; and we certainly expect nuclear power to be an important part of this mix as well.
