how much more effective is the band than traditional “diet pills”?
Diet pills make me jittery and I can feel my heart skip and flutter, so they scare me to death. I know that may sound silly when you consider that I’ve had surgery as an alternative. But one-time outpatient surgery is SO much better to me than a lifetime on pills. I had reached a point (110# overweight) where I knew that whatever I did to lose weight was NOT going to be a diet. It was going to have to be a lifestyle change. Forever. I think diet pills, for people who are morbidly obese, are not really an option. They’re just another stop on the losing-gaining-losing roller coaster we’ve all been on for so long. As for comparing the two in effectiveness, band vs. pills? There is no comparison to the band…it is the ONLY thing that has worked and will continue to work as long as I have it maintained and don’t work against it. do you think losing weight slower (than with the gastric bypass) is helping as far as the “baggy skin” that I have read so much about?
