How much more does it cost to build green homes?
An official for John Laing Homes estimated that green building added about $2,500 to the cost of each home in its Celadon development; an official for Brookfield Homesestimated the additional cost for homes in its Colony Park development at 3 percent to 5 percent. That’s the net increase after savings from some programs, such as precutting wood off site to avoid having to haul away waste lumber.
