How much more dangerous is the marines than firefighting???
I was in the Marine Corps for 4 years and fire fighter for about a year and half. Now I am back in the Marine Corps. I enjoyed doing both but being a fire fighter doesn’t give me the pride and satisfaction of calling myself a U.S Marine. If you a deployed to a war, Marine Corps is more dangerous. If you are stateside or inside a base, then fire fighting is more dangerous. When you fight a fire, it might take couple of hours to may be 10 hours, but you will get relieved by the next shift and you can go home and sleep. In combat, you don’t have that luxury. You have to be alert the whole duration of your deployment for sniper fires, IED, small arms, direct fire, etc. We are fighting an enemy who constantly adapts and improves their tactics and training, and they are not limited by ethics. Once your deployment is over, you will come back and have time to recover. Like others say, It all depends on what you do in the Marine Corps.
