As with most independent schools in North Carolina and throughout the country, only about 85 percent of the cost of a FCDS education is covered by tuition. The gap between the operational costs of Forsyth Country Day School and tuition is bridged by our Annual Fund. Since a tuition payment is made in exchange for education, the payment is not tax-deductible, even though we are a tax-exempt institution. Since tuition doesn’t pay the full cost of the education our students receive, the Annual Fund exists to provide families with an opportunity to make a tax-deductible gift to the school (instead of paying the whole amount in tuition, which isn’t deductible) to make up the difference.
