How much money will be allocated for post-doctoral researchers?
The amount available per capita rises over the three year period covered by the Science Budget, as the following average figures indicate: Academic year 2003/04: approx. 280 Academic year 2004/05: approx. 430 Academic year 2005/06: approx. 850 (The payment for 2005/06 is on the assumption that funding for continuation of skills training will be available as a result of the 2004 Spending Review). These payments reflect the following underlying assumptions made by OST and Treasury about training for postdoctoral researchers: Academic year 2003/04: one weeks training with 50% take-up Academic year 2004/05: one weeks training with full take-up Academic year 2005/06: two weeks training with full take-up Once steady-state is reached, in academic year 2005/06, funding for training for postdoctoral researchers will be comparable to that for PhD students.
