How much money does CPS Energy commit to research and development (R&D)?
In addition to the expenditures on renewable resources, CPS Energy will spend about $60 million between 2005 and 2015 on research and participation in the development of new, energy-focused technologies including utility-scale energy storage; plug-in hybrid vehicles and charging stations; distributed generation; smart grid components and end-use technologies; and energy-efficiency technologies. This work will be accomplished through collaborative efforts with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), partnerships with local/regional colleges and universities, collaboration with local and national science and research organizations, and through research and demonstration activities with our own resources.
