There are many jobs that require a college education and many of these jobs pay more than the average person who has not graduated from college makes. Engineers, doctors, lawyers and make decent salaries. They may not get rich doing that, but most of them are not hurting for money. On the other hand, there are some other jobs that do not pay as well, event though the people have a college education. There are people who have worked their way up to well paying jobs with little or no college education. There are others who have a college education and are broke. The real advantage of a college education is the knowledge gained and especially the experience in learning new knowledge. What people do with this advantage after they graduate is up to them. Some people attend college, gain a degree and then go into a field where they do not put that degree to use. A English major might go to work in Human Resources, for example.
