How Much Lead Does It Take To Poison A Child?
This morning the Government of Canada has issued another recall notice for play jewelry that contains excess amounts of lead. This time it’s a craft kit. Only a few of these kits were sold in Canada and about 3 000 sold in the US. Only a few, but this brings the total of poisonous products aimed at our children in Canada to millions. These toxic toys were sold starting in June 2007. In many of these recalls, the product has been in the hands of the innocents for months if not years. Lead can be absorbed through the skin, breathed in through dust, and ingested. Lead poisoning is cumulative. That means that tiny amounts can build up and cause serious problems.
