A person who contravenes section 3.1 of the Act is subject to a ticket in the amount of $250. Serious offences where a summons is issued may involve higher fine amounts. A corporation could be subject to a maximum fine of $10,000 for a first offence and $150,000 for three or more offences. An individual could be subject to a maximum fine of $4,000 for a first offence and $100,000 for three or more offences.
