How much is firewood?
Firewood is measured in “chord” or “face chord”. It goes for $60-$80 a face chord here in Michigan. If this is going to be your primary heat source, you may need several chords to get through the winter. I just use it one or twice a week in a fireplace, and one chord generally gets me thruogh the winter. You’ll need a good sized pickup truck or a small trailer to load it in. Probably a couple hundred split pieces. Make sure it is split. Otherwise you might get a tree that has been cut with a chainsaw across the whole log; and you’ll need to rent a splitter or do it by hand with an axe and a splitting tool. You might be able to find someone to deliver it to your house. Count on it costing more. A lot of times you can find wood out in the country fairly cheap. But I’m sure there you can buy it commercially out of the phonebook. Pines and softer woods burn faster then hardwood. Oh, and make sure it is “seasoned”.
