How much is a 1943 lead penny worth?
It is probably made of steel, rather than lead (the U.S. has never issued a lead coin). A steel 1943 penny is only worth a quarter or so in just about any circulated condition. Uncirculated ones can fetch more depending on its condition (even untouched coins can vary in condition.) In my opinion, you probably can’t get enough out of it to pay for the visit to the coin dealer who’d buy it.
