How much information can be embedded in a bar code?
Depends on which type of bar code you’re talking about. The UPC (EAN-13) symbol includes 10-digits of data about the product plus a 2 or 3 digit country code. By contrast, a single data matrix symbol can encode up to 2335 numbers or 1555 ASCII characters. In this image, the text on the right has been embedded in the bar code on the left.
