How much income can an ALTCS/Medicaid recipient have?
As with the calculation of the CSRA/CSRD, income rules are different in other states. Unlike the asset calculation method, however, there are really only two variations. Some states, like Arizona, apply an income limitation on Medicaid long term care eligibility. About half of the states have an “income cap.” Arizonas, like that in most states with an income cap, is set at 300% of the maximum federal SSI benefit. That means that an individual with gross income over about $2000 per month will not qualify for ALTCS (though it turns out that it is usually easy to overcome this limitationsee below).
