How much impervious surfaces are too much?
(view map of impervious surfaces) Scientific studies show a corresponding increase in the amount of impervious surfaces such as roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and rooftops as the intensity of land use increases. An increase in impervious surfaces causes the volume and velocity of storm water runoff to increase significantly. The results can be increased flooding, severe erosion, and physical degradation of stream and river habitats that adversely impact the entire watershed and our valuable water supply.
