Hydrogen base production in India is being developed at various sites, like the Banaras Hindu University, Murugappa Chettiar Research Centre in Chennai, and Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. They are working right now on biological, biomass, and other renewable energy routes to produce hydrogen. Additionally, 3 new Bio-hydrogen plants are being built at New Delhi, Hyderabad and Kharagpur to produce 10,000 litre capacity each of hydrogen from biomass.
