How much HP does the 2004-2006 Mazda RX8 GT 6 speed manual have(Canadian model)?
The HP ratings have changed during the last couple years because the SAE rating system changed. It’s the same output, just different testing scale. The 6 speed manual model was 238 HP, reduced to 232 under new SAE ratings. Also, the automatic transmission versions changed as well. The ’04 -’06 models used a 4 port motor which only rated 192 HP. The newer automatic transmission models now have the same 6 port motor as the manual models. These are rated at 212 HP. The auto tranny models have less HP because the manual models red-line at 9000 RPM whereas the auto peaks at 7000 RPM. The torque convertor of the automatic cannot handle 9000 RPM.
