How much hay does a Netherland dwarf eat?
Hay is a very important source of your rabbits diet and should always be available to supplement fresh leafy lettuce and occasional fruits. If your rabbit is under 6 months of age it should have a supply of Alf-alfa hay always available (as this is rich is calories that the rabbit needs to grow properly and develop it’s immune system). If your rabbit is over 6 months of age it needs to be switched over to Timothy hay. This is lower in calories and will prevent crystals from developing in it’s unrinary tract. I recommend finding a local feed store. The hay that they have available will be much better quality and much cheaper than anything you will find at a pet store. If you don’t have an accessible feed store, I recommend the brand Oxbow. They have a great product.
