How much has the old convention center cost Nashville taxpayers?
Nothing. It was completely funded by the hotel/motel tax, which generated enough revenue to pay for the construction of the center and renovations. Those bonds were retired in 2007. Using that as a model, the Council has enacted funding streams – paid by visitors – that will cover the cost of the new convention center, placing no burden on the local taxpayer.
