How much has the Big Ten Network helped in generating money for the department?
“We worked very hard to build that Big Ten Network. As athletic directors we took a lot of heat about that. You think you’re doing the right thing for the long term by building a network, giving greater exposure to all of your sports, help in recruiting and in revenue. Fans for a year were frustrated in their inability to get Indiana basketball or football games on TV. “Now they can see them. You don’t get a lot of platitudes when those things happen, but you do get a lot of criticism when you’re growing them. “I told (Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany) that Indiana has got to make this thing work, because each incremental dollar for us is more valuable than an incremental dollar for anybody else in the league because of where our budget is. “It would be irresponsible not to do what’s best in the long term for institutions and the conference.
