HOW MUCH GROOMING DO COLLIES REQUIRE?
This depends on what type of collie you have. A show bred collie is generally more trouble to maintain. My collies are brushed once every 1-2 weeks and I check for mats behind their ears whenever I am petting them. A good collie hardly ever mats up otherwise. Grooming sessions generally take about 5-10 minutes. Most herding dogs form these mats every once in a while. I trim their nails and pawhair once a month. They have very little doggie odor and require very little bathing. If they get dirty they will bathe themselves. Mine gett bathed about every 6 months. Collies can easily be trained tostand perfectly still for grooming, not complaining if you lift up a leg or tail. a child can easily groom them.
