The first is a solid fuel booster nine of which are attached to the main body of the Delta II. When all of their fuel is used, they are jettisoned from the rocket. In total 233,433 lbs. of HTPB fuel is used for these. The first stage of the main engine uses 211,000 lbs. of liquid RP-1 bipropellant.
