How much for an au pair?

I believe the average pay for an au pair in the UK (outside of London) is about £60 a week, plus free board and meals, and any expenses (costs of any playgroups you go to, buses you need to take while looking after the kids, etc). My friend has an au pair at the moment and has this exact arrangement, and I looked into getting an au pair at one point myself and most things I read agreed that this was average. ETA: I just googled it to double check my answer and found this table – http://www.newaupair.com/nanny_jobs_sala… – so it seems that the average for the UK is actually £55, not £60. But remember that’s an average of the whole country, poor places and expensive places, Birmingham is not the cheapest place in the country so I think it would be reasonable to go for £60.
