How much for a wedding photographer?
My photographer offered a reduced coverage option for NZ$700. This was only for the ceremony and the photo shoot after. It included taking 500 photos, 200 of which (our choice) would be printed in 4×6″ prints. The DVD of 500 photos was included in that offer… copyright free. He was with us from 1000am till 1300pm. It was a Thursday morning wedding and he was available then. We were both happy with that offer as we got the important photos and the photographer was able to get back to his busy shop. If the reception had been included it would have been $1,200. Any printing or enlargements or arranging the albumn etc was over and above the offer. I did speak to another photographer who did full coverages of weddings and the albumn after… her price was $4,000. (my full wedding budget was $4,000!) Another photographer gave me the quote of $1,300 for wedding coverage.
Look around, ask around… surely you can get a better deal. We had a friend have one of his photographers from his business do our entire wedding (before and during, lots and lots of pictures) for $250. It’s even nicer if you can get someone to do it for free. It’s best, however, that you get a professional or an experienced person to do it, and preferably not a family member, as they will be wanting to enjoy the day without the job of being the photographer.
