How much food will I need for 100 people at a lunch wedding reception?
Depends on what you want to serve. I catered my daughter’s wedding last year. We went through approximately 20 lbs of pork tenderloin which we grilled, I slow roasted several roast beef and pulled them apart and added bbq sauce, it was very good. I made approximately 5 lbs of chicken pasta salad, 25 lbs of potato salad, I made a watermelon fruit boat which was almost the most expensive part of the meal….We ended up serving almost 300 people. There were various other fillers but remember that not everyone will eat everything. It is hard to estimate. We didn’t have much left over though, I was a little nervous. The food cost was approximately $800.00 Start early as you can and freeze what you can about a week ahead of time. Slice pickles and butter buns the day before. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun. A labor of love for my daughter. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Good luck to you and Congratulations to the happy couple.
