How much equipment and supplies are in the NIFC fire cache?
The fire cache maintains a minimum inventory of tools, equipment and supplies to support 10,000 firefighters. Even though the total number of items does not equal 5,000 – they have immediate restocking capability – within 24 hours or so. 75 percent of supplies, materials, tools and equipment are returned after the fires, serviced and put back in the inventory for use on the next fire.
