Self-government: Quite a bit. England let the colonies run most of its affairs. Liberty: Not as much. Yes, England let the colonies run most of its affairs, but ultimate authority still rested on the English throne. Equality: Almost none. Women were subservient to males. Slaves and Native Americans were treated very poorly, and poor people were considered inferior to richer people.
