How much energy does it take to produce a gallon of ethanol?
Renew Energy’s experience is that fractionation has helped cut energy costs by approximately 35 percent. The energy required to produce a gallon of ethanol has been reduced from the approximately 34,000 btu-per-gallon standard of the conventional ethanol plant (without fractionation) to about 21,000 btu per gallon.
