How much energy could wind power provide worldwide?
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, wind energy could provide the equivalent of 5,800 quadrillion BTUs (quads) of energy each year—that’s about 15 times more than current world energy demand. Like any energy source, economic and technology challenges limit the amount of power that can be economically generated from wind resources.
