How much electricity is in a lightning bolt?
A lot. A lightning bolt embodies as much as 30,000 amps of electricity. Each flash contains about one billion volts of electricity. That’s enough energy to light a 100-watt bulb for three months. Too Darn Hot. A lightning flash can happen in half a second, but in that period of time, it superheats the air around it to a temperature of 54,000 F. ~ five times hotter than the surface of the sun.
