How much electricity Does a fish tank filter use?

This depends on the filter you use. The box type pumps that sit on a shelf with the tubes running air to an air stone can be a little noisy and annoying, but the Whisper filters that hang over the side of the tank, or actually inside of the tanks make almost no sound at all, especially if the water level is high enough that the water doesn’t fall from the filter to the surface. I don’t think any filter will use much electricity. But there are lights and heaters too. Still, they don’t use much electricity either, even all together. Mostly you just have to worry about the water and the effort you have to put into it to keep it clean.

It will use a lot of electricty whatever size the filter is and if you switch off the filter it will use just as much by using a heater.
